PROGRAMS
Pre-K through grade 2
On the sheltering green grounds of Sierra Canyon's Lower Campus, our expert early childhood teachers nurture your child's intellectual and moral development in equal measure, providing an unusually firm foundation for learning and growing.
Cultivating vegetables in our garden (and then eating them) or finding out what money means and practicing ways to use it, your child connects with academic studies in real ways from day one. As they work and play with eager classmates from all walks of life, Sierra Canyon students build academic, emotional, and cultural agility to carry them forward through our Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools.Grades 3-6
As your child takes their next steps through our Lower School, we design every experience to fully engage all wonderful, wondering dimensions, so our students come to understand how they learn best.
On the expansive, leafy grounds of our 17-acre Lower Campus, your child builds curiosity and confidence through active questioning, real-world problem-solving, and thoughtful small-group work, alongside classmates from uncommonly diverse backgrounds. Students can explore California's Missions from multiple perspectives, build and race a solar car, compete on the swim team, play in our rock band, and travel to Olympic National Park with their teachers and classmates.
All the while, our students enhance their innate compassion through our intentional character education program—so they know how their learning can benefit others, not just themselves.
Guided and inspired by caring, imaginative faculty members, your child discovers how, what, and why they love to learn. By the end of the transitional 6th grade year, our students have grown into strikingly self-aware, self-directed young thinkers and citizens, ready for the galvanizing challenges of our Middle School.Grades 7 & 8
During the Middle School years, your child experiences thrilling, sometimes bewildering changes as they transition from a child into a teenager. At Sierra Canyon, we have designed our Middle School program to help students effectively direct all their inquisitive energy, while helping build the academic, social, and emotional skills to thrive as a learner and individual.
Our Middle School students share our sweeping, sunlit Upper Campus building with students in grades 9 through 12—so your child gets a first-hand glimpse of what lies ahead while feeling firmly grounded in their own close-knit community.
Designing an original physics experiment to demonstrate angular momentum, trying a hand at improv comedy, exploring Washington, D.C. with teachers and classmates, or launching a fundraiser to buy supplies for a neighborhood school, your child grows as a unique human being and member of a larger society.Grades 9-12
From Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12, Sierra Canyon's momentum-building program equips your child to rethink the familiar and embrace the unknown. Our students' Learning Forward journey culminates in the sunlit intellectual laboratory of our Upper School, where their well-earned academic and personal confidence launches them into college, career, and life beyond.
Our entrepreneurial, question-driven philosophy fosters both independent thinking and productive collaboration—so your child consistently transforms original ideas into real solutions. They develop new technologies to increase disabled people's independence. They can direct professional actors in their own movie. They can chase down leads for our award-winning Standard newspaper and discover firsthand how ancient history shaped modern Italy. All the while, your child comes to deeply know and respect their own interests and capabilities—and those of others.
Equipped with that exceptional understanding, guided by attentive teachers and college counselors, our students confidently determine their own path to college and career success. Our Upper School graduates regularly enroll in top colleges—including Harvard, Columbia, Brown, NYU, Duke, Stanford, and UC Berkeley—and go on to forge satisfying and significant lives.ADMISSION

REVIEWS
We have had an amazing experience at Sierra Canyon. Our son is a student-athlete. Academics are very important to him. He finished his senior year with a 4.4 GPA while playing on one of the top football programs in the country with some of the best coaches. That is not possible without the support of amazing teachers that keep the kids engaged. Sierra Canyon's college counseling is phenomenal as well. We have two older sons that graduated from one of the best Catholic schools in the area, but the counseling is virtually non-existent. We now know the difference. Sierra Canyon was a great fit for our youngest. My only regret is not moving him there sooner. He is now playing football for Texas Christian University and in their Neeley School of Business. I credit Sierra Canyon for that!--Parent
Our son attended Sierra Canyon School and had a uniformly excellent experience academically, as well as athletically and socially. Even through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, we found the administrative, teaching and coaching staffs to be engaged, caring, innovative and outstanding individually and collectively. Even online, the teaching was remarkably good and our son didn't seem to lose a step academically. Sierra provided top-notch college preparation and guidance. Combine all this with a generally supportive and education-focused school culture and you have a recipe for real learning, personal growth and achievement that will continue well beyond Sierra Canyon School.--Parent
