What is a Pull List?
A pull list is a list you keep at your comic shop for the employees of the comic shop, of all the comics that you want to read. The comic shop will make sure to factor in the needs of everybody’s pull list when they buy their comics. Then, every week, the comic shop will check to see if any of your titles released an issue that week, and if they did, they’ll “pull” it by setting aside a copy of the issue just for you.
Free Comic Book Day
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event celebrated at most every comic shop in the world. This year, Free Comic Book Day is usually in the first or the second week of May. On this day, you can get free comic books from any participating comic book store. The comics available on Free Comic Book Day are an assortment of new comics, samplers of comics, and even magazines about comics.
To get free comic books, you just show up to a comic store participating in Free Comic Book Day and get some free comics. But there are limited numbers of books available on Free Comic Book Day, so it is highly recommended to get there early. For a list of the comic books that will be available on Free Comic Book Day, click here.
How to Set Up a Pull List
Figure out what titles you want to include in your pull list. You can list single issues or whole titles if you want to receive every upcoming issue.
Most comic bookstores that offer Pull List have information about setting up a Pull List. If not, visit the shop and ask how to set up a pull list with them. Some places will have you fill out a list on paper, and others might have a computerized system to use.
Visit later to pick up your comics. New issues hit shelves every Wednesday, but your shop may experience delays from time to time, especially on weeks with holidays.
