Celebrate the joyous tradition of Mexico’s most famous holiday this November for free with Cumbia legend La Sonora Dinamita con Vilma Diaz, who will headline 24th Street Theatre’s 13th annual Dia de los Muertos block party on Saturday, November 2, 2019.
The event features entertainment on two stages including master conguero, bandleader and vocalist Louie Crúz Beltran; seven-piece juggernaut Tommy SpaSe and the Alchemists; Aztec dance from Huitzilopochtli; music from Son Jarochicano Los Cambalache; and more. Special guest Raul Pacheco and The Immaculate Conception will perform two intimate sets on 24th Street Theatre’s indoor stage.
Enjoy homemade tamales, face painting, craft booths and a graveyard where families can make their own altars for their departed loved ones. The evening kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with a procession led by ceremonial dancers Los Chinelos.
You can also purchase $5 raffle tickets at the event to enter to win two round trip tickets to anywhere Aeromexico flies. Other raffle prizes include tickets to Universal Studios and a quinceñera dress by April Black Diamond’s of downtown LA.
This year’s festival will again encompass Hoover Street from 23rd to 25th Streets in addition to its original location on 24th Street between Hoover and Magnolia.
The event will take place on November 2, 2019 between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm at 24th Street Theatre, 1117 West 24th St., Los Angeles, CA 90007. Procession with ceremonial dancers Los Chinelos starts at 5:45 pm from the corner of Magnolia and Adams to 24th Street Theatre.
