Echo Park has officially reopened as of May 26, 2021 after two months of closure for repairs. The park was closed for two months since March to clear the homeless community, who were camping at the park during the pandemic.
The Department of Recreation approved more than $1.1 million for repair of the park. The improvements included tree trimming, graffiti removals, new landscaping, an upgraded playground, boathouse, restrooms, plumbing, and more.
Security cameras now cover the entire park, which will be monitored by the city. The city has also added four gates and fencing that can be closed at night to avoid camping at night by homeless community.
The park is located at 751 N. Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90026, and is open from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm at this time.
