The Festival of Whales, a yearly event in Dana Point, is a celebration of the annual migration of the California Gray Whales. Festival highlights include an opening day parade, street fair, art and craft shows and sales, classic car exhibits, stand-up paddling and sailing opportunities, sand sculpting and chowder cook-off competitions, concerts on land and water, environmental activities, educational opportunities, interpretive crafts, kids activities, culinary delights, spirits/beer gardens, and whale watching excursions aboard a variety of vessels. Teen Night is a free event for teens between the ages of 12-17 years old, created with our Tar Pits Teen Group. This group has been collaborating with our scientists, and now they're bringing the Ice Age to the teens of L.A.! The evening includes free access to all museum exhibits, music by DJs, refreshments, creative activities, and a Q&A with a Tar Pits scientist moderated by the 2018-19 Tar Pits Teen Group.

Now she’s on an adventure through an oversized world meeting all kinds of fantastical creatures — like mother Toad and her son, a helpful swallow, Mr. Mole, Ms. Mouse and more. Filled with pop songs that kids are bound to love, this one-hour, immersive-interactive musical is perfect for the entire family. In this alternate reality, real toys are recontextualized and placed alongside Obvious Plant's original toys to create a darker, more bizarre version of the past. The museum features 100+ toys and games, each one unique and altered in a humorous way. Multiple interactive exhibits can also be found throughout the exhibit. (Tickets $10)

Join Aquarium of Pacific on Free Friday evenings when Shark Lagoon will be open until 9:00 p.m. You are invited to get up close with the ocean’s ultimate predators at the Aquarium of the Pacific for FREE during Shark Lagoon Nights. You will have the opportunity to touch bamboo sharks and see large sharks such as sand tigers as well as rays in the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon.
