Torrance Art Museum – Spring Exhibitions

Step into a world of creativity, activism, and innovation as Torrance Art Museum unveils three compelling spring exhibitions: "Body Counts," "Envirotechnology," and "Aire Libre." These exhibitions challenge viewers to reflect on the human experience, environmental justice, and the evolving relationship between technology and nature.

"Body Counts" brings together a diverse group of artists who use figurative art to examine themes of representation, identity, and social dynamics. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the exhibition explores the power of the body in an era of political and social uncertainty.

Envirotechnology," an immersive installation by David DiMichele, blends twisted oak branches with glowing LED neon rope lights, creating a mesmerizing space that questions whether technology and nature can coexist in harmony.

"Aire Libre," a video installation by Erin Cooney, shines a light on environmental injustice in South Los Angeles through a fusion of oral histories, spoken-word poetry, and dance. Created in collaboration with East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice and performed by CONTRA-TIEMPO Activist Dance Company, this powerful work reclaims spaces affected by pollution through art and movement.
