Annual Butterfly Season at Kidspace Children’s Museum

The Western monarch butterflies are returning to Southern California, and that’s cause for celebration at Kidspace’s annual Butterfly Season. Dig-in and connect with nature in our new exhibits, activities, and programs. Test your keen creature-spotting skills in a bug safari. Create a caterpillar - shape it out of clay, add seeds, and watch your fuzzy friend sprout at home. Dress up like a butterfly and spread your wings in fantasy flutter-by. There's so much for your little love bug to explore. 

A new feature this year is an interactive art installation in the courtyard that pays tribute to the Monarch butterfly’s cultural and ecological ties to Mexico.

Adopt a Live Caterpillar 

Butterfly Season wouldn't be complete without a caterpillar. The entire family will marvel as science and nature come together in this transformative experience. Witness the dramatic metamorphosis as you watch them go from hungry, hungry caterpillar to delicate chrysalis and emerge into a Painted Lady butterfly, ready to release into your garden or neighborhood park. Caterpillars and butterfly kits will be available at the Kidspace Store starting March 9.

Kidspace will close on March 10 between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, and reopen for Pasadena ArtNight from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
